Health and Wellness
Health and Wellness: Community 43 members can participate in their own self-care as they learn about their own diagnosis, treatment for the diagnosis, as well as alternative methodologies that can be used to help them maintain their own mental health and wellness. Community 43 members can also learn more about managing their own mental health and wellness through a variety of activities throughout the day, both individually and in mutually supportive classes. Classes will be taught to address chronic health conditions as well as managing substance abuse disorders. Community 43 members will have opportunities to learn more through physical health activities, through direct services, and in classes whereby individuals learn about their chronic health conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and obesity as well as how to manage health conditions to have more healthy and productive lives. Individuals will also participate in learning more about their own specific diagnoses and how to manage them through mindfulness, medication, mutual support, and other resources in the community. Interventions and educational models that address suicidal ideation, suicidal action, and managing oneself in crisis will also be provided both individually and in classes. Learning to manage the voices in our heads is another key component that our community members will obtain.
