What is Community 43?

Community 43 is a fully licensed behavioral health outpatient clinic and an active Clubhouse. We're located in the heart of central Phoenix and serve people living with mental health conditions, such as major depression, bipolar, PTSD, and schizophrenia. Our Community 43 Clubhouse offers a wide range of daily activities that strengthen meaningful social connections, teach life skills, build community, and provide members with fulfilling work opportunities.

Core Values

Inclusivity. People with mental health conditions are served with dignity and respect. They are treated as equals at every stage of their participation in the community’s System of Care.

Comprehensive. The Community 43 System of Care is a comprehensive approach that combines medical, psychiatric, and social interventions. These interventions are founded on compassion and empowerment.

Strength-based. Everyone – no matter what their diagnosis – has something to contribute to the community. By focusing on strengths and opportunities, members experience a sense of belonging, build self-esteem, and develop positive work ethic.

Clubhouse Program

A work-ordered day is at the heart of the Clubhouse Model. By working together, members regain confidence, make friends, acquire new skills, and progress toward their educational and employment goals. Clubhouses are a powerful demonstration of the fact that people with mental health conditions can and do lead fulfilling, productive lives. Every day, members participate in any of the following units:

Creative Arts

Culinary + Market

Home + Garden

Business + Tech

Health + Wellness

Welcome + Advocacy

Supported Education

Creative Employment

Community 43 is based on New York’s original Clubhouse, Fountain House. The Clubhouse International model has been replicated in more than 300 locations in 32 countries and 32 states. It currently serves more than 100,000 people with mental illness worldwide. Thanks to the Stead family’s vision, we are able to bring this model to Arizona and share it with the community.
